COVID-19 impacted the globe heavily in 2020, and we became painfully aware of all the small things in life. This year’s Halloween will be well remembered as a bitter-sweet one. A well-loved holiday for both children and adults will have a new meaning. Instead of a fun mask, we will be wearing face masks, medical ones.
Nevertheless, let us not forget the meaning of the holiday. The ancient origins say that the holidays marked the end of the summer and the beginning of the dark, cold winter. It is believed that on this day, the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead is lifted, and therefore it became the day when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts from harming their crops, winter stores, and all of the hard work they did throughout the year.
In the light of the year that has almost passed us, we hope that we too defeat our COVID ghost that has become our shadow for almost a year now.
Dear friends, colleagues, business partners, take a moment to appreciate this Halloween, literary in masks. Stay safe in the warmth of your own home, spend time with your family, remember your loved ones on the other side, and take a moment to breathe deeply. Focus and get some strength to continue moving forward. Each era has its challenges. Our ancestors 2000 before us were facing “ghost”, and now we are facing a ghost of our own.
